Black Tourmaline has been around FOREVER!! Green and Red Tourmaline originally mistaken for Ruby and Emerald! In about the 1800's they figured out that the Tourmaline family were in a league of their own.
Commercially known as 'Black Tourmaline' but it is actually called Schorl and is a form of the crystalline silicate mineral group. This means it is formed with water.

Black Tourmaline is the most common form of Tourmaline and can be found all over the world with the biggest deposits found in Brazil, China, Sri Lanka and South Africa.
Black Tourmaline is often found formed with other crystals including Quartz, Biotite (Mica), Granite, Calcite, Spodumene (Kunzite), Microcline (Amazonite & Sunstone), Lepidolite and Beryl.
