HISTORY 

Mahogany Obsidian is a natural volcanic glass formed when silica-rich lava cools rapidly, preventing crystals from forming. Its distinctive reddish-brown or mahogany patches are created by iron-rich minerals, particularly iron oxides such as hematite, within the volcanic glass.
Obsidian isn't technically a mineral because it doesn't have a crystalline structure — it's a naturally occurring volcanic glass. The mahogany patterns are created by iron-rich inclusions trapped within the glass as the lava cooled.
