A M E T H Y S T

You either love it or you hate it! Am I right?!
Like a pop song, there are a million out there, they are all so similar but when you find the one.. it's incredible!!

Amethyst is one of the most common crystals around, I think pretty much everyone has had one in their collection at some point. Amethyst is a purple variety of Quartz, mined all over the world but the highest grade are mined in Uruguay and Brazil. It can even be found here in Australia but is often quite dull in colour and "dirty" looking from the red stain in our soil.
In some locations, the Amethyst clusters are exposed to light or extreme heat for a long period of time causing them to fade and yellow, turning it into a form of Citrine. This is naturally occurring but more modernly, artificially created. This is also how Amatrine is created.

Fun fact! Back in the day many Ancient Greeks believed that Amethyst would protect its owner from intoxication. They would drink their alcohol from carved Amethyst glasses to avoid drunkenness.

Metaphysical Properties

Amethyst is known for its calming properties. It helps to soothe irritability, calms the mind, relieve stress & anxiety, dispels rage and balance mood swings.
This means it can also help those who suffer from insomnia.
Amethyst has also been worn for centuries as a stone of protection.

Chakra - Third Eye & Crown

Suggested Uses

Sleep with one next to your bed or under your pillow, carry on your person, use in a protection grid along side your Black Tourmaline, have a piece on your desk at work or anywhere you feel needs some beautiful calming energy!

Cleansing Recommendations

The Quartz family are versatile when it comes to cleansing techniques. However prolonged exposure to heat and light can affect Amethyst's colour. We recommend limiting any time in the moonlight or sunlight to avoid any issues.
